Chairman of the Board & CEO
Aubrey founded Professional Installers, Inc. (PI) in 1984 and has grown the company into one of the largest installation and storage companies in the Midwest.
Prior to founding Professional Installers, Inc., Aubrey spent six years at Monsanto as a facility planner. During his tenure at Monsanto (Acquired by Bayer in 2018), Aubrey saw a need for furniture installation within his own department and recognized a larger opportunity as systems furniture became prevalent throughout the corporate world. Starting Pi in his garage, he began by hiring friends from high school and college, working nights and weekends to get the fledgling business off the ground. As the business began to grow, Aubrey joined the furniture industry with a local Steelcase® dealer. PI became the installation arm of the dealership and the growth continued. In the early 90’s, Professional Installers, Inc. spun off and became its own entity.
In 2004, while celebrating its 20th anniversary, PI purchased its current facility in Maryland Heights, MO. This facility houses 6,000 square feet of renovated office space and 66,000 square feet of storage to accommodate the companies expanded services, including Inventory and Asset Management for customers. Pi, also has another 100,000 square foot storage facility bringing the total storage space available to 166,000 sq. ft.
In 2014, PI, celebrated 30 years in business. A big part of the PI success story is in the corporate philosophy of constant improvement. Part of that improvement has been as a result of PI being invited to participate in a nationwide “Best Practices” consortium known as Facilities Services Network (FSN). This group of 20 of the largest and most innovative furniture installation companies gathers three times per year to share best practices and performance benchmarking. Aubrey has served in several leadership roles, including being on the Board of Directors. Additionally, Aubrey is a member of the American Subcontractors Association - Midwest Council (ASA- Midwest) and the International Facility Management Association (IFMA)
President & Chief Operating Officer
Steve joined Professional Installers, Inc.(PI) in 2016 as a co-owner and is the company's President & Chief Operating Officer.
Steve brings 35+ years of construction, construction management, operations and executive level experience to the Professional Installers, Inc. team. Steve is responsible for corporate strategy, growth, cost containment and business development.
Before joining PI, Steve most recently was the Vice President, Division General Manager for a national electrical contracting firm overseeing its Colorado operation which included $35 million of P/L responsibility. Prior to that he was President of St. Louis based Kaiser Electric from 2008-2014. He has also served as the President of the American Subcontractors Association – Midwest Council, has been a Leadership Chair and Board Member of ASA National, served on the Boards of NECA St. Louis Chapter, St. Louis Amateur Blues and Affton Hockey, and was Hockey Coach at MICDS in 2011-2012. Having grown up in his father’s masonry and snow removal businesses, Steve became an IBEW electrical apprentice in 1985, worked in the field as an electrician from 1989-1993 before taking his first management position. Steve has his Bachelor of Science degree from Webster University. Steve’s wife Cathy is Executive Director of the Bi-State Fabricators Association and CEO of Professional Commerical Interiors, a WBE Commercial Interior Contractor..
Phil has been in the moving and storage industry since 1976. Having gone to work for Allied Van Lines after high school as a short hall driver, Phil graduated to become an owner operator for four years. Realizing he wanted to be home with his family, he went into the sales end of the business and was responsible for the largest office and industrial mover in St. Louis at that time.
In 1988 he left Allied and went to work as the Operations Manager for a local furniture installer. Six years later, as fate would have it, Phil ran into a previous customer, Professional Installers, Inc. owner, Aubrey Kimberling. In 1994 Phil came to work for PI and has been an integral part of the success story for the past twenty years. As Director of Operations and Project Manager, Phil touches every aspect of the daily operations of Pi including sales, project management, labor management and business operations.
In his spare time, Phil is an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing and camping. Additionally he has a passion for football and rugby. His family is very important to him and his wife Shirley. They have two sons, five beautiful grandchildren and two dogs.
Dennis Joined Professional Installers in early 2018. With over 25 years of contract furniture sales and installation experience, Dennis has a unique undertanding of the architectural products industry.
His role at Professional Installers will be to provide major project management and oversight with particular focus on architectural wall projects. This includes preconstruction planning including feasability and constructability analysis, initial budgeting, and project estimation. Additionally Dennis will be the construction liason on awarded projects between the manufacturer, architect, owner, general contractor and installer leading to total project and account management.
Mitch is a graduate of St. Cloud State University-St. Cloud, MN. He recently relocated to the St. Louis area having previously worked for Capital One Bank in St. Cloud, MN working on projects in the fraud detection department. Mitch holds his Bachelor of Science in Business Management/Quality Assurance. Additionally, Mitch holds an Associates Degree in Carpentry from Hennepin Technical College-Minneapolis, MN. Mitch’s breadth of experience allows him to fill a multipurpose role for Professional Installers, Inc. including Project Management, Account Management and Project Estimating Roles.
While in school, Mitch worked as a painting contractor and bathroom remodeler. He enjoys playing soccer, fishing, camping and all things outdoors.
Angie joined Professiona Installers, Inc. in 2017 as a Project Manager. Angie brings 15+ years in the custom window treatment business to the PI team. With a B.A. Interior Design degree from the Stevens Institute of Business and Arts, Angie specializes in integrating window treatments in fully automated buildings; integrating them with new or existing Building Automation Solutions and other Building Management Systems to help reduce annual electrical costs through daylight harvesting solutions. Additionally, assisting architects and designers alike, Angie has become well established working with construction specifiers providing invaluable knowledge end-users.
Angie has most recently been instrumental working on full automation projects such the RGA Headquarters, Laclede (Spire) Headquarters, and Danforth Plant Science Center. She is involved with the International Facility Management Association (IFMA) St. Louis chapter and the American Subcontractors Association (ASA) Midwest Council.
Cary joined the Professiona Installers, Inc. team in 2018 as a Project Manager. Previously, Cary was a furniture installation business owner, and brings 15 years of installation business knowledge and industry credentials to the PI team. As an owner Cary directed all aspects of daily operations including invoicing, purchasing, receivables and payables, employee supervision, payroll, estimating, project management and sales.
Some of Cary's recent installation projects include Williamson County Courthouse in Marion, IL., Lutheran Senior Services-Concordia Village in Springfield, IL., Washington University Alumni Offices in St. Louis, MO., Ritenour Early Childhood in Overland, MO., and BJC IT Offices in Columbia, MO.
Susan has worked in administrative support and customer service for nearly 25 years, the last 18 being with Professional Installers, Inc.. Her day to day functions include customer service support, inside sales support and scheduling support. When she is not working she enjoys reading, watching the St. Louis Blues and spoiling her dogs.
Andrew joined the team in 2018 as a Customer Service Representative. Like Susan Hunt, his day to day functions include customer service support, inside sales support and scheduling support.
Prior to joining the PI team, he worked in Materials Management at multiple surgery centers in Creve Coeur, MO since 2014. Additionally, Andrew has experience managing a gym in St. Louis County. As a native St. Louisan, Andrew attended the University of Missouri Columbia after graduating from CBC high school. He enjoys outdoor activities including playing sports, cycling and camping. Andrew was recently married to his wife Ashley.
Vicki started with Professional Installers, Inc. as the company receptionist. Over the past 17 years Vicki has continued to provide a valuable skillset to the company and moved into new roles as needed. Currently she is responsible for all accounts receivable and payroll functions within Pi. Prior to starting at Professional Installers, Inc. she worked in the insurance industry. Vicki is an avid St. Louis Cardinals and USA Volleyball fan and spends her free time with her 3 children and 4 grandchildren.
Tami joined Professional Installers in October 2016 and handles all items related to Accounts Payable. She earned her Associates in Accounting from St. Louis Community College. Since 1996 she has worked in accounting for Tricor-Braun and Kaiser Electric Company. Tami is married with two daughters and in her spare time enjoys RV camping with family and friends as well as reading and listening to music.
Mark joined Professional Installers in October 1995 and handles all items related to warehouse receiving and shipping, from day-to-day shipments to long range storage and planning.
