Professional Installers, Inc. (Pi) began operations in January of 1984 when the original owners were currently working in the facilities group at the Monsanto Company. They saw a need for furniture installation within their own department and realized a larger need as systems furniture became prevalent throughout the corporate world. They began by hiring friends from high school and college, working nights and weekends out of one of the owner’s garage. Eventually, as the business began to grow, both transitioned to careers in the furniture industry with a local Steelcase® dealer. Pi was the installation arm of the dealership and the growth continued.

Pi became its own entity in the early 90’s and with that was able to offer more services to an ever expanding customer base. Warehousing, storage, shipping, delivery and asset management were all added to the core business of furniture installation. Project management also became a staple of what customers asked of the young company. In 1994, the company management decided to mentor a WBE partner named Professional Furniture Installation, Inc. (PFI) headed by Lindsay Chilcutt who remains President, currently. Today PI and PFI run larger projects, coordinate multiple facets of specific jobs, work with data/voice cablers, electricians, flooring professionals and painters to provide a plethora of services for customers, at times working almost as a General Contractor without the construction hat on.

In 2004, in conjunction with our twentieth anniversary, the company became a full-fledged facility services company, tackling anything a commercial facilities department needed. Additionally the company was asked to join a national best practices group because of the outstanding services offered to customers. Known as Facilities Services Network (FSN), this Best Practices group has become well known throughout the industry as a trusted colleague when it comes to any service needed in a commercial setting. FSN has created an environment for PI and PFI to try new things, learn from other companies in our industry and perform our services in the best way possible for all customers. We use the expertise gained through these relationships to better serve our client base, both locally and nationally.

2019 not only marked the 35th anniversary of Professional Installers, Inc., but also saw the company surpass the 75,000 projects completed milestone.
